Financial Sacrifice

Whenever God showers a people or a community with His favour and His grace, he invariably requires some sacrifice from them. In other words, sacrifice is essential if one wants to gain the nearness of Allah and His pleasure. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran: "You cannot attain to righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love; and whatever you spend, Allah surely knows it well." (3:93)

Explaining the blessings of spending ones wealth in the way of Allah the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw said:

"Whoever spends anything in the cause of Allah, is rewarded seven hundred times more." (Tirmidhi)

The Promised Messiahas also highlighted the importance of financial sacrifices in this day and age. He said:

"It goes without saying, that you cannot love two things at the same time: it is not possible for you to love wealth as well as to love Allah. You can love only one of them. Lucky is he who loves Allah”. (Majmu’ah Ishtaharat, volume 3, p. 497)

The New Dedication (Waqfe Jadid)

Allah Almighty has emphasised in the Holy Qur’an that every Muslim should make financial sacrifices. Hence there are several financial sacrifice schemes in the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community known as “Chanda” for the propagation of Islam. Before taking a big step new ahmadi brothers and sisters are encouraged to participate in a blessed scheme named “Waqfe Jadid” (The New Dedication). Beloved Huzur, may Allah be his helper, said in his Friday Sermon of January 9, 2004: .

“At the very beginning it should be made clear upon New Ahmadis that if in the beginning they do not or cannot pay Chanda at the prescribed rate, as they have not yet had the proper training, they should be asked to start paying Chanda Waqf-e-Jadid or Chanda Tahrik-e-Jadid. Soon they will get used to it and will even get pleasure out of paying Chanda.”
